RAWZ naturally contains 12% fat, a level Rawz considers a well-considered level for today's moderately active pets. Most fat is added to pet food to enhance palatability. RAWZ is made from mildly cooked meat, making it very palatable and requiring no added fat. Carbohydrates are an important part of a balanced diet, but like humans, a diet high in carbohydrates can lead to poor health. Some traditional pet foods contain over 50% carbohydrates, and even some grain-free pet foods contain as much as 40%. We use alternative sources, such as pea starch, instead of grains and potatoes. Pea starch has a lower glycemic index and is an excellent source of insoluble fiber. Moderate fat and low carbohydrate levels can help prevent some of the most common health problems found in our pets today: obesity and diabetes.
